The Difference Between Seeing Whales and Them Seeing You

Journeying to the Whales must be done in softness and flow. In the lead up to our retreats, I encourage quiet space for you to soften, and really begin to exhale.
Always do less, and let go of peripheral things. Whilst you don’t know what you don’t know, remember these words, you will live as a different person after being with the Whales.
Many people see Whales, few truly meet them. Fewer still are actually seen by the Whales.
This cannot be orchestrated, and these moments don’t come through efforting.
Seeing a Whale is always extraordinary. The sheer scale, their grace and agility, their knowingness, their awareness. The enormous privilege of sharing space in the ocean with such magnificent beings can leave you breathless. But being met and seen by a Whale is something else entirely.
When a Whale meets you, they really take you in, and there is a mutual exchange. And suddenly, after your nervous system settles, you are no longer observing an encounter you are inside one.
Whales are deeply intelligent, energetically sensitive beings. They do not respond to adrenaline, or performance. They respond to joy, love, coherence, and calm presence.
We are so willing to be with every Whale we see on our retreats. No Whales left behind. They love us as much as we love them, and we act upon every opportunity to be with them. Because of this, on our boat I am super excited, waving, singing and cooing to them. It’s difficult to control that pure childlike excitement and joy that bubbles to overflowing.
Yet being met by a Whale is all about resonance and coherence - and the meetings have been prepared well before we step foot onto our boat. They know my joy because they know me, and although I want to float next to them, share love with them, I have no other agenda.
Our beloved Whales are Elders. Carrying ancient intelligence, they share with us ways to live with our spiritual tools alive in full flow. When they meet and truly see a human, they see their energy, open heart and ability to receive love.
Whilst on retreat, I witness this again and again. A woman enters the water with anticipation and some nerves. And then when she settles her breath, remembers her beautiful heart, her expectations fall away and she becomes the moment.
And that is often when the deepest eye to eye connection occurs.
Being seen by a Whale really changes us. Not because of anything the Whale does necessarily, but because of who we become in their presence. And it's this becoming they witness.
For those moments you are living as the person you have wanted to be, and the Whales hold this space in the most spectacular way.
